Leasing an apartment

Hoping someone here knows about leasing laws, either an agent, or past experience with securing a place. What are the requirements in getting qualified to rent on your own by only presenting a copy of spouses drivers license? For purpose of showing more income or better credit only, to qualify, spouses name included on application, but not being listed as a tenant (due to filing for divorce).
I’ve known of others who have done that on the Missouri side several years ago but not sure if it’s still possible. Asking for a friend.
The spouse could be a co-signor or guarantor, but they are going to need the actual tenant to provide ID as well. They need to know who is going to be living there.

B-Three is correct for the items she mentions.
But, for the rest of the issues, it's going to entirely depend on the individual landlord.

Landlords will require the primary actual occupant to sign everything. And, credit reports and income verification are frequently run on the primary tenant.

This is not a "law" thing, this is getting the landlord happy to let someone rent.

Whether there's going to be a 2nd tenant, or a guarantor, might help get the landlord happy, but that's entirely up to the individual landlord.

Last, sometimes that tenant's SO also moves in shortly thereafter.
Yes the tenant would be there, ID, good rental history and enough income and able to verify., also able to pass background check. Active chapter 13 keeping credit score too low until dismissed.
I’ve only dealt with large apt complexes and the office people worked for large nationwide companies. That’s why I was asking how to rent without spouse being present or having knowledge. I’ve seen it done. I known they’ve changed complexes name and management since then or I would just call and ask. Sounds like maybe renting through an individual might be the way to go since they might overlook the chapter 13.

Find a private landlord who will be more flexible and basically comply with whatever the terms are. Sometimes an apartment locator service can be very helpful.

A Chapter 13 is not necessarily a deal breaker. There just may be a bigger deposit required, etc.

I'm finding if you're willing & prepared to pay 2 deposits + 1st month rent there are more options .if you're credit score is no lower than 550 more options. Be prepared to pay over 900 a month for a descent place. At least for a 2bdrm not much less for 1 bdrm.

Stacy are you having any luck on your search? I'm still at it. I know I'll never allow someone else to control my finances again. My ex had 100% control and I took the screwing. The prick could have at least lubed 😂
