Vodka at Houston Area Grocery and C-Stores

Walked into Kroger store today and saw bottles of vodka close to the wine section. At least it was packaged as clear vodka. Look closely at at package: 18% grape wine alcohol. Saw a display of pint size bottles at a local Stop and Go that didn't carry liquor.

What's up?
Really? Wow. I haven't seen liquor at corner stores-gas stations ect… since I left Lake Charles. Interesting.

Sounds like wine in some misleading packaging.
Vodka is going to be a lot higher than 18%
A lot of the street daiquiris and frozen daiquiris at pubs are made with wine instead of rum so the seller doesn't have to have a liquor license. They can sell it on their beer and wine license.
Liquor laws vary state to state...many states you can buy any liquor in any store with a liquor license. There is a 20% ABV (40 proof in US) law in Texas and anything at that or above they can only be purchased for take out at "liquor stores". Less then that and you can purchase at any store with a beer and wine license. Liquor stores in Texas sell all alcohol related items...not to be confused with beer and wine stores.
