For the providers and the hobbyists, how is it out there? I’m thinking about moving to New Mexico in a few months or at least making some trips, and I was just curious on rates, hotels, laws, business (slow or steady) what areas to avoid- etc. any info will be greatly appreciated!!
Downtown Albuquerque is a place to avoid due to the violence, crime and bad elements. Also know that vehicle theft is high out here but I would suggest making a trip out here before committing to a move.
If you're planning a visit, good areas would include the area around the airport, an area referred to as "Midtown" by locals (Louisiana NE from roughly I-40 to Menaul), and the I-25 area north of town (Osuna, San Antonio, etc.). Lots of good hotels, motels, and eateries. I'm sure more folks will add to this.
Great place to visit, but a crappy place to live.
The airport area is good. If you go further north along I25, I would find a place a few miles north of the interchange (I25 & i40). The area around the interchange itself is not great but a few exits north is fine.
I40 and Louisiana is a decent area but pricey.
Avoid any hotel along Central, especially Central and Tramway.
