I use my regular phone with an app called Cover Me. It requires you to set up a pin to access, uses a burner number, is encrypted for both texts and calls, texts can be set to s self destruct, like in Mission Impossible, and is $29.99 every 6 months. Very safe and secure.

I am currently using Google Voice with a throw away email/username. It has been rather reliable for a few years now.
It looks like you use google play to pay for it, so it's whatever credit or debit card you have or put on google play. Not sure if you can use a prepaid Visa since I haven't tried it yet. If you try it, let us know.

Trac phone at Wal Mart. Phone purchase, text messages and minutes can be purchased with cash. No CC, identification, or paper trails whatsoever.

Doesn't even specifically name the app. And the CoverMe app itself requires a 6 digit pin to even open it. It's the best I've found as far as security, reliability, and ease of use are concerned, IMHO.
