Trading in my iphone!? That's an issue

Where else could I get the proper info for this dilemma.
I'm due for a new iphone. I see some decent rates WITH a trade-in.
I want to keep my pictures and videos but I don't want those pics and videos to be in Verizon's hands.
How do I trade in my iphone, have them transfer all my pics to my new phone, but then have the old phone wiped clean??
Is it something they commonly do right in front of you? Where they as a matter of policy, take your old phone, transfer everything over to your new phone, then show you that they wiped your old phone clean.
Seems like a common issue....even if you're not the pervert that I am, who would want their private pictures out there??
Why don't you use a iCloud account and transfer everything you want there.
Where you only have access with a password. Then wipe off the pics and videos off the phone. It's worth a shot.
Make a backup with iTunes on you laptop. If you do it just before the trade in you can wipe the old phone and have current backup you set the new phone up with. Assuming you’re staying with Apple.

I agree. Make a backup via ITunes then do a factory reset on your phone and delete all private info.
I also hook my IPhone to my computer and cope all of my saved pictures and videos over to a “IPhone back up” folder this way I have 2 copies.

I never trade my old phones in or any other tech. I buy new, transfer the data myself and personally dispose of any old data or tech

If you aren't paranoid? Back everything up on old phone to icloud. Wipe (erase via the settings) your old phone. Trade it in. Get new phone to a fast internet connection. Restore phone from icloud. You'll have everything. Verizon might have a procedure like this for Apple devices in-store--but I don't know (haven't walked into a retail cell joint on my own behalf in 20 years). If you drag your PC or Mac to Verizon with you, you can do the whole thing via itunes (or whatever we are calling it today) on the computer via USB, which has the added bonus of not putting your stuff in icloud (for the slgihtly paranoid).

For those with tinfoil hat issues: I usually don't trade apple devices in right away myself--an old iphone makes a great universal remote for almost everything in my home, for instance. But on the occasions I have, I won't participate in any trade program which doesn't allow me some period of "overlap" with both devices (even if that involves a credit card hold or the like) so that I can properly transfer my data from one to the other and ensure the old device is wiped properly before I hand it back. My level of paranoia goes: 1. Order/get new phone. 2. Back up old phone to Mac that isn't icloud connected with finder/itunes. 3. Restore that backup on freshly reset new phone. 4. Factory reset old phone. 5. Trade in old phone.

save the aggravation, use a separate hobby / photo phone
The last time I got a new iPhone, transferring everything was basically hover the new phone over the old phone and voila. I can't remember if it was via the Cloud or not, but I do remember it being super easy.
Boost / Metro has some decent iPhone deals, and they seem to be geared more towards...uhm..."lower echelon" users lol so it might be worth investigation.

An iExpand is great for dumping files. https://shop.westerndigital.com/en-g...30C-032G-GN6NN

I just shelved my 11 for the the new RAZR, which is the coolest phone ever.

Thanks for all the help. I'm really surprised that when Verizon offers trade-in prices, they don't have this in mind.
Otherwise, I want to trade in my phone. I should be able to walk into the Verizon store, buy the new phone, they transfer my shit over to the new phone, then (RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME), they delete everything from my old phone that they are now taking ownership of.
I'm old enough to be technically challenged with this and don't want to figure out a different way. Looks like I will just buy the new phone without the trade-in.
There are some secure cloud servers out there if you are super worried. If you just don't want a Verizon tech to see them I'd just use iCloud or Google photos to temporarily hold them all until you can re download to your new phone.

The Verizon store won’t move everything, it’s easier to make a back up in iTunes and just transfer it over yourself. Lots of YouTube videos on how to do it.
