Santangelo's (Liverpool), Joey's Classic (Carrier Circle area), Francesca's Cucina are all good but they don't open until 4ish these days.
If you're only here for a few hours, Joey's Pronto opens around 2. It's upstairs from Joey's Classic and is more casual & budget friendly.

If she's looking for great Italian food, avoid Olive Garden. It's the McDonald's of Italian Restaurants. I tried it once. It was the worst Italian food I've ever had. I asked for my pasta al dente. No one in the kitchen knew what that meant.
