2021 Oscar Winner 'Nomadland' Takes Best Picture

Zollner's Avatar
Saw this masterful but sad Oscar winning flick dealing with nomad living in the USA at present. Deals with some of the so called 'better off' homeless in America. Decent educated folks that for the most part did everything right, worked all their lives and still got fucked over big-time in the end, in the richest county in the World....

Storyline: Following the economic collapse of a company town in rural Nevada, Fern (Frances McDormand) packs her van and sets off on the road exploring a life outside of conventional society as a modern-day nomad. The third feature film from director Chloé Zhao, NOMADLAND features real nomads Linda May, Swankie and Bob Wells as Fern's mentors and comrades in her exploration through the vast landscape of the American West.
Wonder what the homeless outside the Oscars ceremony thought of it.
Then the title character ends up taking a job as a police officer in Fargo, ND and the fun really begins!!
fuckin Ed.....
I watched this movie the other day. It was the most god-awful, boring and plot-less movie I've seen in a very long time. This is a perfect example of the Oscars giving awards based on diversity instead of merit.
Can't be diversity... no white males in it....

Um.. are you guys aware of the new diversity requirements for even being eligible for an Oscar nomination??

I remember reading some bullshit about it while lamenting the shut down of the local filming industry (it's opened back up with lower pay rates than ever around Buffalo, fuck that shit)

So fuck what the story is about or the artists vision or who's most qualified for the various behind the scenes or best actors/actresses for on the screens....we got requirements now.

Seriously, fuck this shit I really don't know how to make sense of anything anymore. I used to think I leaned kind of liberal but the more bullshit that starts happening and the more restrictive shit becomes the more I just want to get some cowboy boots, a beat up truck, a few shotguns and move to Texas. It's like the liberal side of shit is asking for so much nonsense I can't even feel any sympathy for it anymore and I just want to tell them all to go suck on a free-trade organic carbon neutral dirty donkey cock. I've spoken to a lot of ultra liberal "woke" folks from the West Coast that make 6 figures and have pretty cushy lives. I always invite them to come spend some time in Buffalo or down town Niagara Falls and see how far their wokeness and virtue points gets them next time a group of people try to demand to be let in their car or some folks try and mug them at gun/knife point around here. Nobody ever wants to take me up on it!
no wonder the ratings were HALF of what they were in 2020.... and 2020 were the lowest in history until the Wokers made it even lower this year...
Good job Hollywood.....

pretty - do onto others as you would have others do onto you- about things. Used to be a lot more supportive and passionately opinionated. But based on life experiences and uh "hesitance" to put myself in certain situations based on the field data and some of my views on how America spends money helping other countries that do nothing to help us and not understanding why we're okay with some countries who commit genocide or kill women and school children but not others... it ends up having the 25 and under crowd think I'm some hardcore conservative racist somehow?

I'm not really sure how it works anymore. I'm really nervous/annoyed about whats going to come of standup comedy with all the woke culture cancel culture bullshiT gaining so much momentum and nobody being able to really do/say much in standup comedy because of the pandemic. Like we're going to get shit moving again and people out there and comedians are going to have to worry they';re going to get misinterpreted and canceled more than ever before?

it really makes me nervous that people are forgetting that its okay to be offended, being a dickhead isn't really a crime you can ruin someones life over, and whats good for the goose is good for the gander. If you can sling shit about one group of people it should mean we can all sling shit in good humor about all groups.

It's hitting a pretty serious imbalance.

I mean even The Goonies couldn't probably be re-made in this political climate. They make a fat kid do a funny dance and some retard with birth defects that gets kept in chains saves the day in the end. It's got an asian kid who's clearly a nerd with broken English using Inspector Gadget devices.

For fuck sake I think of that bullshit they tried doing with the latest Ghost Busters movie and just what a horrible steaming pile of shit that was. Even if it had a different cast, just the writing/story line/trying to make it hip and modern.. it was dog shit.

If they get to the comedians we're really fucked.
Thankfully we still have guys like Dave Chapelle and Bill Burr keeping me laughing in the absence of Pryor, Carlin and Hicks. Funny should always get pass, nothing off limits.
Chappelle's black white supremacist sketch is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. I'm not so sure that Comedy Central would alllow that if it was released today.
I believe there will always be an audience for comedians. I'm more worried about the venues. How long before clubs and theaters get too woke and refuse to host comedians who discuss "sensitive" topics? It hits the comedian in the wallet and prevents us from seeing their "offensive" act. It's censorship by proxy.
