Taking Iowa by storm...

Andrea Davis's Avatar
Apparently the Vegas heat didn't follow me to Iowa but I did make it.

I need dinning recommendations for Des Moines July 8th -10th / Cedar Rapids July 11th -13th and Quad Cities July 14th -15th.

If you don't want to just show me the town through your eyes I always enjoy a nice dinner companion. Push come to shove I will be trying to stalk Charlee for a nice meal in Des Moines.

Best low cost but very good Asian , HyVee Grocery stores. They also have good pizza by the slice, rare in CR.

High end Asian, Red ginger or Sushi House 2 both near Edge wood rd SW. Red ginger has grate lunch deals.

For a breakfast meal, go to the Breakfast house on 6th st SW. Near 8th ave SW.

For American , Granite City on the NE side by Lindale mall.

For Mexican Casa Las Glorias on Blairs ferry rd NE. There is no other Mexican food better than them.
If you just want a fast Burrito, Any Poncheros.

Italian is hard, none that blow the rest out of the water. Maybe Biaggi's.

Pizza, Tomaso's or Sam's for Calazones and pizza. For Bread Stix is Paul Revere's pizza worth the drive ask for extra butter and garlic seasoning.

Indian, Taste of India. It's better than the rest but not by much.

BBQ, hard to say. Q Dogs or Bandana's.

For very high end Cobble Hill. not open on sunday or monday

Enjoy, do yourself a favor get a Breaded pork Tenderloin sandwich in a bar and grill or at a Culliver's. Some say the Maid Rite or Loose meat sandwich is the state sandwich, they lie. Pork tenderloin is the go to.

And for god's sake ask if the have any sweetcorn on the cob where ever you go for a sit down meal. Iowa sweet corn is the best in the country and is just coming into season.
Mexican - Cancun's, family owned and ran at the SW 33rd exit of 380.

Best Tenderloin in town is at Joensey's. SW side of CR
