80% population is fully vaccinated, yet they are experiencing the greatest surge since the pandemic has started.

Why?

I thought Singapore had come through this pretty well? It ranks near the bottom in terms of COVID fatalities per capita. That is, as a % of the population, very few have died of COVID.

They have dormitories of men, construction workers, from places like Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, and at one time COVID was running rampant through the dormitories. Not sure if that's still the case.

To put their surge in context. Louisiana had 41 deaths yesterday. Singapore has about 6M people and Louisiana has about 4.7M.

I’ll take their surge over ours any day and twice on Sunday.

Howling and screeching is what happens when you don’t read beyond a headline.

Seems like you need to practice up on your howling and screeching oeb.

Thanks NM for putting things into perspective.

Dude, their deaths and cases are the highest they have ever been as of right now. Just click the god damn link wtf. The data is updated daily.

The point is that they are experiencing the largest sruge since the start of the pandemic despite being 80% fully vaccinated.

Obviously, their number are better than the USA. I wasn't trying to make that comparison.

The point of the thread was to ask why is Singapore experiencing the greatest surge yet in the pandemic, even though they have one of the highest vaccination rates (80%)?

I thought I had made that clear in a single sentence. I guess not ...

Did you guys know that "environmental justice" has nothing to do with the environment?

Environmental justice is the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race, color, national origin, or income, with respect to the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies. This goal will be achieved when everyone enjoys the same degree of protection from environmental and health hazards, and equal access to the decision-making process to have a healthy environment in which to live, learn, and work.
- The United States Environmental Protection Agency

That might even sound like it has something to do with the environment, but it materializes in the form of HR people doing demographics on their employees and then claiming that their own company that they work for is racist. Which may or may not be true, but saying that almost every month for an hour surely makes a few people start to believe it and no longer want to work there anymore.

So, yes. The US EPA is racist, and they admit that for an hour every month. Fuck them.
