Border crossing. Any info?

Hello all, questions about heading to Canada.

Do we still need a Covid test?

Do we still need a 2 week quarantine location as backup required by the border crossing?

Or is it back to normal?
What are things to bring and prepare for?

What is the ArriveCan App?

Thank you.
I hope its back to normal as its been 2years+ now.

Doubt it will ever be "Normal" again. I've heard different things so i'd like to know the real deal also.

Download the ArriveCAN and follow the instructions. It pretty easy to get in. Have proof of vax and passport.
no you have to be vax to get in and just do the arriveCAN don't even worry about the quarantine just say you have the means if you have to quarantine
I crossed into Canada yesterday. Filled out my ArriveCAN last Saturday. All of my vaccination info is on file as is my enhance drivers license. The app did ask me to provide an address I would stay if quarantine became necessary. I chose an address from the list, crossed over with no issues. About 15 minute wait time.

3 weeks ago I planned a trip and filled out my trip info within 72 hours prior as required. I was not asked to provide a quarantine location. Something came up and I cancelled the trip.

I think it's a random hit or miss on questions when it comes to quarantine plans/locations.

Woody,
Not random, but tailored to your application. If you're already in their system as a regular "safe" client you get the discount (of less paper shuffle).

My data hasn't changed at all in years, so just the Id check and off I go.

On my second trip, with all my information still on file, I was asked for a quarantine plan.
Are borders open now? ArriveCAN app still required?

Currently, must still use ArriveCAN. And, always carry your paperwork in case the border agent's system is down.

But, they have posted a couple days ago that beginning Oct 1st, they will lighten up on requirements, including not requiring ArriveCAN.

But, honestly, unless you're entertained by talking to a Border agent for 15 min, or more, I'm gonna still use the ArriveCAN system to load my travel plans, until it is switched off. When I hit YHZ Stanfield, maybe a split second pause to wave my card across a scanner and I get beeped to go.

I think Halifax is the most hospitable of all Canadian cities.
Everything back to normal crossing into Canada starting October 1st.Of course passport required.
