Don't you see how that just made it worse? She already felt insulted by you asking for a 50% discount. Then she felt insulted again when you asked for her normal price afterwards, because that meant you didn't actually need the discount.

And even if money was really that tight, that's not her problem. Asking providers for discounts for no reason is as ill-mannered as when they randomly hit us up for free money.
