Malicious Code?

The virus protection app on my computer has started trying to block me from accessing eccie, giving a warning message that they detect malicious code in their site that is used to steal people's identity and other personal information.
Would any mods care to respond, or anyone shed any light on this?

Golard,

As Doc mentions, we've had nothing for a while.
However, frequently this type of thing occurs when something is sitting in the members local machine browser that arrived from somewhere.
So, clear out your browser, cookies and everything, then close browser, and come back in.
It's also possible that this site has been somehow added to your "protection" list in whatever security software you have. That's easy to fix also. Drop me a PM if you still have issues after clearing Browser.

More often than not the error is referring to a pop up which also plant cookies on your machine!

Deleting all cookies is NEVER a good idea! Takes hours to get back on track. As simple as I can make it, find your cookies folder, read through EACH AND EVERY cookies file and kill every one’s name you don’t recognize. Names are site names. Probably take an hour or so. You’ll most likely end up killing 75% of your total cookies! Don’t worry about it!

When deleting, hold down the SHIFT key and hit the DEL key. The file(s) will be permanently gone! For a consecutive list of files, click on first file, hold down shift key, go to last file, click on last file, all files will be selected/highlighted. You’re already holding shift key, hit delete, all those files will permanently go away!

If you have a Mac, disregard all above! Except part about pop ups!!

I did tech support for about 6 years, years ago!!

Dumars,
Yup, a pop-up has been embedded.
True, about being selective about individual cookies, but might miss it, as these have a habit of labeling themselves as something common.
Whacking all cookies is quick, but Yes have to re-logon to everywhere.
In addition to the hospitality industry stuff I do, I also beta test a major outfits off the shelf software beforehand.

Another way to keep bad cookies at bay is to write the names down. “Doubleclick.net” for example, then go back into browser settings and block those sites! Not fool proof by any means but definitely slows them down!!

FORGOT . . . When scrolling through names KILL each and every cookie file with “ad” or “analytic” in any part of the file name!

THAT IS ALL!!
