Railroad regulation

The kicker? It's all legal!
Is it morally right? No
Is it legal and profitable? Yes, and that's all that matters

Quick Take

The National Transportation Safety Board’s chair said an Obama-era rule the Trump administration nixed would not have prevented the derailment of a train in Ohio, as some partisan commentators inaccurately claim. The rule requiring a new electronic braking system for certain trains carrying hazardous cargo did not apply to that train.

If you're only learning those words now, the mensa score claim seems suspiciously spurious.

Note I never said in this thread that the result of the trail derailment is a result of Trump. I simply posted a funny cartoon (which I figure is simple enough for people here to comprehend, kudos to all of you who did!) about regulation.

If you want to get big brain about it, the cartoon could be rewritten to fit any kind of big industry where they lobby and control the government for their own profit, but since there isn't a funny cartoon about it, it's no wonder that never occurred to some of you. Sadly, I can't account for everything

Every regulation will effect some negatively and others positively. Assessing what amount of negativity is acceptable is where the lines become blurred.

The fuck?

Everything works the same way, you think automotive recalls aren't done by the same process?

Pay a little to the few people who die, and don't pay to fix every bad vehicle.

The same mentality applies to almost every business, including small ones, balancing profits versus legal or moral problems.

Trust me, you are going to start seeing "Death lists" for the elderly, or, "Take the pill, and forget about that late life surgery", you are not going to be worth saving someday, as will we all.

My IQ test for Mensa was one of the lower numbered tests, like top score was 150, some go way higher, that's how those "Brains" advertise IQ scores above 200.

130 was all Mensa required, so, I don't have a lot of room to drop and still be a "Genius", so I have to limit myself to one or two views a day.

Whether you were implying fault on the part of the Trump administration or not, the real question remains: after two plus years of Biden in the White House and Dem control of both houses of Congress for most of that time, why in the heck haven’t the Dems fixed all the “problems” Trump created? Blaming Trump for everything gets you kudos from the left wingers, but at this point the Dems have been in full control for a while now. It’s time for them to put up or shut up. They certainly are not bound by the actions of the previous administration. If new regulations are needed, why the hell have they not passed them yet?
