It's been said by several people here, "Never, ever give a deposit, for any reason.". I believe that some who ask for a deposit are honest, but many are not. If everyone would stop giving deposits, the honest people would stop asking for one.

NEVER pay upfront- not just deposits but also paying before a session starts.

Once they have your money you have zero leverage.

I have said this numerous times, Never, Ever Pay before service. If a provider won't see you before some type of payment, drop her and see another immediately.

Hobbyist pay ridiculous high prices as it is and we don't need to get ripped off on top of that.
