Shaving with a straight edge

This topic has been discussed before but didn't want to bump an old thread.

I have finally gotten sick of shaving the Mac 3 and the like, the shave isn't as smooth as it once was, and I am sick of the high priced refills.

Are there any barbershops in town that offer a shave with a straight razor? Or any providers that do? I want to try it out and if I like it would consider in investing in a straight edge razor.

Any fellow hobbiests use a straight edge razor? How is it?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think any barbers offer a shave anymore since the HIV scares. I have used a straight razor before and it fine but you have to have a steady hand and you have to know how to keep an edge on it. Best bet is to stay with the high end quad blades if you buy them in bulk off of Amazon or the like they tend to be more reasonable in price.

Here you go! It is located near the shops of La Cantera.

You can find their prices on the website (kinda steep) but for a once in a while indulgence, it's not too bad. Not nearly as expensive as a provider. In fact, I am somewhat tempted to give them a shot myself!
my barber is 72, he uses straight razors on me but they are the disposable ones, still a damn good close shave all with hot towels and everything, i dont think real straight razors are allowed any longer.

I took my brother for a shave the morning of his wedding.
All the grooms men went to this "old time" barber shop.
It felt pretty good being pampered and your skin taken care of, but truthfully, I went home and hit my neck and chin with the mac 3 before the wedding.
Wasn't the closest shave I've ever had.
