Then we walk over to see Harper Simon. (who I wanted to see) After 2.5 songs we left so we could get in at this crappy show we were "on the list" for. We were on no list, we just got the wristbands first. This band's music had been featured in a couple movies whatever... unimpressed. But AOL was putting on the show and there was free beer and other swag. I didn't care for the band and got a phone call so I stepped out. I ended up talking to a cute blonde who worked for AOL in NY.
They wait for the bandmembers to come out so they can see them leave.... whatever. We then wasted a shit load of time sitting around bullshitting. I get several work calls etc... I drink more beer.
Then we walk over to the convention center because supposedly you can charge your iPhone there! NOT.
Now it is off to see another "show". Again we get there WAY too early and waste time that could be spent eating or seeing a different band. The guy playing when we get there looks like Jeff Bridges in the Big Lebowski, and he sounds like he is trying to channel Waylon Jennings and Tom Waits at the same time. BLAH...
The guys we are there to see are both total jokes. Weepy, singer songwriter, "oh she is not around anymore to hear my bullshit songs", shit. I feel embarassed FOR them. These guys are from Dallas and I imagine seeing them playing open mic nights on Lower Greenvile any Friday or Saturday night, "living the dream".
We leave there and go to eat. When we get back my "sweet free street parking spot" lets me down. Some asswipe had parked so close behind me that I literaly could not leave. I finally left downtown about 12:15 when he came to move his car. I told him almost had his car towed, he was a douche about it, of course...
On top of all of this when I did drive today I had to fight the mindless mob. It seemed at every intersection when I had a green light there were idiotic numbnuts dawdling or ambling accross the street. The jaywalking situation is out of control.
So like I said earlier, I will be avoiding it from here out. I hate SXSW, and I hate downtown right now.
