Alas, as predicted by all the rational people on the board, the 5th circuit has ruled that Trump isn't a king, and doesn't get to enjoy total immunity for all the criming that he's done. In fact, if you aren't acting in the duties of the president, you cannot be immune anymore than the average Joe- er Joey per one of our prolific posters.

It is common sense that if you do things that are not part n parcel of the duties of operating as the Commander of our armies and or the executive office holder and acting in those roles, you cannot just simply ask people to break laws and not be held accountable.

The GOP would shit themselves if Biden or Obama did those things, and then claimed immunity for the shit's n giggles of saying they didnt know any better or thought they could simply "do that".

I'm sure Trumpy will appeal, but winning isn't in his DNA. It's more likely to end up in the same way the E Jean Carroll trial did and the other trials will ultimately end.

SCOTUS will take this up. And and won’t be before the election. By that time it may be a moot point.

Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia rejects President's Trump request to dismiss his DC indictment.

Quote: "Any executive immunity that may have protected him while he served as President no longer protects him against this prosecution."

This will be headed to the Supreme Court. The DC case will not go to trial before the election.

Hard to predict such things, but we'll go for it:

We find it more likely than not that the Supreme Court does not rule on the immunity issue before the 2024 election. This will allow the Court to defer making a ruling on a novel question of first impression (Presidential immunity from criminal prosecution) that will have significant consequences. Should Trump be elected, he will have the power to pardon himself. Should he lose the election, the Court can make its ruling after that time. The Court isn't in a rush to decide this issue, and such a strategy will keep it from making an election-altering decision. The Court is sensitive to its public perception and generally doesn't want to insert itself into electoral matters.
