undersea cable sabotage

Both Russian and Chinese ships have damaged vital undersea cables. This can't be by accident. The commentary is no vessel drags their long chain and anchor for hundreds of miles without noticing.

And they can't be doing this themselves. Someone is giving them orders. Putin and Xi ?

What should the NATO response be ? How to defend against this tactic ?

Push Ukraine and Russia to end the war and stop the bloodshed. Then the problem goes away. I believe that's Trump's plan.

Actually....
There are international laws.
Some of which date back centuries.

Note that the transgressors are using ships that are near the end of their life cycle. Perhaps they are expecting the ships to be seized.

As a side comment, the US Ninth Circut Court of Appeals labeled the Sea Shepard organization as pirate due to it's acts of violence on the high seas.

It's rare that us landlubbers are aware of the "laws of the seas" but they do exsist and are enforceable.

Ship seizure is a common remedy. I also note that hanging pirates is still actually authorized.

Maybe Mr. Trump can threaten Russia and China.......he threatens Canada and Mexico.

And he is an excellent name caller.

Xi probably deposited a check in one of The Big Guys off shore accounts, telling him that the ballon thing worked so well, their next move was to destroy some under sea cables.
No problem.
