So the U.S. sent two planes full of deportees to Colombia.
Seems Devo was incorrect and countries don't just roll over for the U.S. or Trump. The Colombians refused to let the planes land.
Trump huffed and puffed and implemented "emergency" tariffs of 25% on Colombian goods as retaliation.
Petro issued retaliatory tariffs and still refuses to permit military planes to land.
He sent the presidential plane to return his citizens to Colombia after they were dropped off in Honduras.
So all it took was one power flex to cause 25% tariffs with one of our oldest allies in the region.
Meanwhile, Petro had no issues with deportees returning via commercial flights. So this didn't even need to be a thing.
Hell of a plan, boys. Hell of a plan. And Petro comes out looking like a strong, capable leader who cares about the dignity of his people. Trump better do something else quick because 50% tariffs is asinine because he got his feelings hurt.
Now we get to see what gets negotiated. But that fantasy of other countries just rolling over for Trump didn't last long. Even if Petro ultimately concedes, the bubble has been popped.
