Colombia

So the U.S. sent two planes full of deportees to Colombia.

Seems Devo was incorrect and countries don't just roll over for the U.S. or Trump. The Colombians refused to let the planes land.

Trump huffed and puffed and implemented "emergency" tariffs of 25% on Colombian goods as retaliation.

Petro issued retaliatory tariffs and still refuses to permit military planes to land.

He sent the presidential plane to return his citizens to Colombia after they were dropped off in Honduras.

So all it took was one power flex to cause 25% tariffs with one of our oldest allies in the region.

Meanwhile, Petro had no issues with deportees returning via commercial flights. So this didn't even need to be a thing.

Hell of a plan, boys. Hell of a plan. And Petro comes out looking like a strong, capable leader who cares about the dignity of his people. Trump better do something else quick because 50% tariffs is asinine because he got his feelings hurt.

Now we get to see what gets negotiated. But that fantasy of other countries just rolling over for Trump didn't last long. Even if Petro ultimately concedes, the bubble has been popped.

This is the bubble

How exactly do those American planes get permission to land in whatever country the want to land in to drop off illegals?

They don't.

Nobody will refuse us.

Also, Mexico refused military flights last week. Not sure you all saw that. So we've got 2 pushing back. Brazil's condemning the treatment.

I don't think the stick is working, boys. Mebbe try some of that diplomacy stuff rather than the chickenshit with bad optics.

Of course, Colombian President Gustavo Petro didn't want them back.

These aren't stellar citizens or Rhodes scholars or skilled surgeons returning home to practice medicine. They're fucking criminals. They're being deported to make our cities safer. The corollary of that is wherever they are sent to will become less safe.

You're looking conflicted, Gristle. You've been criticizing Trump for not deporting as many illegals as Obama did. Now you're criticizing him when he tries to catch up.

Do you want criminal aliens to be allowed to stay in our country? Yes or no.

Most Americans don't give a fuck if they're deported in leg shackles on a military transport or on a commercial flight, where they can terrorize their fellow passengers on the trip. Just get 'em out.

You also can't decide whether the threatened tariff is 25% or 50%. Keep trying.

Sorry you haven't caught up, Lusty. You see conflict but aren't connecting the right dots.

1. He could have spent less using civilian flights
2. He got punked by Petro, hard
3. They started at 25% and will increase to 50%.

You're trying. Love the energy though

Did you miss the news Colombias prez bent over and caved in only a few hours, earlier today?

Why are you still posting about now non existent tarrifs?

It was over before it ever got started.

I knew you'd point it out how wrong I was, but I knew who'd win any pissing match if one happened.

WINNING!

Sorry you're having trouble connecting the right dots, Gristle. Maybe this will help:

Yes this map shows the red places, where most of the illegal immigrants live and will never be deported. Appreciate ya sharing.

That map doesn't show the egg on Trump's face. Softman is soft.

Petro, of all people, looks like the adult in the room in an argument with the U.S.

The U.S. has additionally retaliated by suspending visa services in Colombia and canceling certain diplomatic visas.

Anyone checked the walls for ketchup today? Someone is throwing a tantrum.
Wow that Petro is tough, he even had a strongly worded message typed up. Wow.

The below broke about 15 minutes ago. Looks like some of you have egg on YOUR face.

“U.S. sanctions and tariffs NOT taking effect on Colombia after President Petro agreed to Trump’s terms on taking back migrants, White House says.

They’ll be allowed in on U.S. military aircraft. If not, the sanctions and tariffs will start.

“The Government of Colombia has agreed to all of President Trump’s terms, including the unrestricted acceptance of all illegal aliens from Colombia returned from the United States, including on U.S. military aircraft, without limitation or delay. Based on this agreement, the fully drafted IEEPA tariffs and sanctions will be held in reserve, and not signed, unless Colombia fails to honor this agreement.”
