IPL/Laser Hair removal

Looking for honest feedback on anyone(guys or gals) that have used the IPL(Intense Pulsating Light) devices for hair removal. I'm most interested if you've purchased one and used on yourself. Looks like you can get the fairely reasonably.

How long before you see results? Any issues with burning of the skin? Save to use around the genatilia?
My lady and I have one. I did notice reduction in hair on the area of my neck I used it on but the sting was so bad I just stopped. I did a lot of research though and one girl details how she just tolerated the pain at level 10 and was hairless all over her body in a few months. I can try to find the laser I bought if you are still interested. It was about $200 or so.

They say not safe around genitalia but plenty do that. It will hurt and may burn but I doubt scars. Maybe hypopigmentation if you have dark skin. The color of hair also changes the results as the pulse travels through different colors to the root differently.
Laser hair removal is not all what people think. Hair grows in 2 stages and you have to treat all 3 a couple of months apart. Lasers don't work on Gray hair or Red hair. Gray has no pigment, and Red is the same color of the laser and is ineffective. The procedure is done in nickel size pulses and takes some time. Neck and unibrow hair removal is what most men get, women get bikini line or their entire genital area done. Their is a cream they put on you 20 minutes before the procedure that reduces the pain significantly. It takes several treatments to totally remove hair, and you have to have a maintenance procedure after about a year. Wish I had know about this before I turned gray especially my back and genitals. I know all this because my wife works in this industry at a dermatologist's office for 30 years.
