I saw the name...Donald Lapre and thought...hmm, that name sounds familiar so I clicked on the link to see if it was some sports person or what.

NOW I remember him. Years and years ago, I bought one of his money making programs...(never did anything with it), but I think it was about newspaper lists from around the country or something like that. I'm sure he was making a ton of money back then (I'm talking like 10-15 years ago).

I had no idea he was still pushing products. I mean, gee whiz, he must have been a millionaire many times over.

Now I see he has supposedly killed himself. I didn't even know he was in jail. I don't watch tv anymore so I hadn't seen a commercial for him in years.

Has anyone else ever purchased anything from him in the past? If so, what? And did you make any money off the program?

I don't recognize the name, but i recognized your description. I think most everyone here would remember seeing his commercials because they were on almost constantly.

He pushed the idea of placing classified ads in newspapers all over the country to make millions. Not sure what the ads were - i suppose you needed to buy his program to find out.

He also pushed the idea of starting up a 900 line, if i remember correctly.

his "system" was about how to post ad's to get people to .. post ad's. nothing more. junk. it was basically like this, post a classified ad about how to post classified ad's for X money and he'd send you a letter saying "post ad's asking people to send you money to learn to post ad's asking people to send you money to learn about posting ad's for money" LOL. that was it. never tried it. Dude probably did make a lot of money on it but he shoulda quit while he was ahead. I figure he got enamored with the lifestyle and couldn't let it go. Most "criminals" don't know when to quit. Then he got into the vitamin supplement craze and pushed his luck. If the Feds in Arizona thought they had something on him they probably did. Why he killed himself i guess we'll never know, if he had any legit business at all you figure he'd have been ready to go to court over it. Guess not. Like P. T. Barnum said, "there's a sucker born every minute" i bet if you put a classified ad out there even today saying "I'm broke please send me money" it would probably work. A lot of panhandlers are just lazy scam artists getting a free ride on people's generosity. several investigative reporters have caught people doing just that. try this the next time you see someone panhandling .. tell them you'll give them 5 dollars now or 50 dollars if they come to your house and cut your grass. which deal you think most of them will take? the 5 dollars of course. all they usually want is the 5 dollars for a bottle of cheap wine and then go to the nearest homeless shelter for a meal. Me and a friend tried it several times and never got anyone to take the 50 dollars. i never give panhandlers a dime. it's like the joke about two mexicans who are panhandlers.

Juan and Julio come back from a day of panhandling and Juan has made over $100 dollars but Julio has made almost nothing. So Julio asked Juan "how do you make so much money?" and Juan says "let me see the sign you use" and Julio shows Juan his sign and it reads "Will work for money" and Juan says "that's your problem!, look at my sign" and it reads "only need $5 dollars to go back to Mexico"

The Waco Kid...I like your panhandling joke.

Doove....yeah...that was it. Placing ads in newspapers all over and the 900#. That's the one I bought. I figured the list of all the newspapers was handy in itself. Saves me time from searching and if I ever wanted to place ads for whatever...it would be a handy resource.
