So I'm gaining some pounds in my 40's and I need a program to slim down. Anyone recommend the P90x?

I wanna get buff fast for all these hotties in DFW
From what I hear, P90x does work, but the workout regimen and especially the diet regimen are brutal and draconian. If you have the money and are truly prepared for an ass kicking, more power to ya, but you may not have to go that far. I'd try some saner workouts first.
There is a minimum fit requirement for p90x, so it kind of depends on how many a few extra pounds is to you. I am on week 2 of p90x, and I barely made the fit test requirements. I can tell you that it's a kick in the ass. I can also tell you that I've already dropped 14 pounds, my energy is up, and I'm developing muscle. I'm following it strictly including the diet. No alcohol, no soft drinks, no sugars, mostly lean meats, eggs, and greens, a multi vitamin, and a protien supplement. There is another program called Power 90 for those that don't make the fitness requirements. From what I've heard, it's more cardio based and designed to get you ready for P90x.
New version of P90X is coming out in December.. Great workout.. Well rounded (YOGA SUCKS!!). Go to youtube type in P90X - great videos.. Lot harder to get it off than putting it on.. My 90 days - dropped 4 pant sizes..
Ttbar,

If you're looking to get lean and ripped and not interested in muscle mass you might want to try Insanity by Shawn T. It is a cardio based workout for two months, 6 days a week and I can tell you it WORKS. I did it earlier this year, dropped 25 pounds (205 to 180) 5 inches off my waist (size 32" pants now) and you will feel energized. You do need to follow a diet to make it work. If you do it, make sure you take before pics and after pics to get the FREE T-shirt, like I did.

I also did the P90X routine...not as cardio based and intense as Insanity but a great workout with free weights (or bands) as well. I alternate between the two programs now during the week. URL for both programs:

I'm 59 years old, and if I can do it, you can, too. It takes commitment, but it is WORTH IT. It might be a little tough if you have knee problems but you can skip that portion. I have not felt this good since I was 25 years old. PM me if you want more details.

And I want to thank Nina Moretti for telling me about this exercise program.
save your money (don't waste it on p90) grab a gym membership and hit those weights/cardio every day
I tried P90 and almost died the first 10mins, lol. I since have bought Turbo Fire and love it! Still pretty intense but not as much as P90.

Good luck!
