the damage by Trump is done tariff flipflops

Trump will keep playing with tariffs. But the damage to the economy and inflation has
been done.

increase tariffs
suspend tariffs for 30 days
reduce tariffs
increase tariffs again
may change tariffs
blah blah blah

Trump has increased uncertainty so much that the FED is delaying interest rate cuts.

Inflation continues at higher levels than if Trump was not continually flip flopping.

What I am hearing from the president is that the imposition of tariffs is, in part, a negotiating tool he uses to incentivize other nations to adjust their trade policy in the way he fels will benefit the USA.

This means that instituting a tarrif, adjusting it up and/or down and perhaps lifting it are not flip-flops, they are the overt effects of diplomatic negotiations.

The end goal is a fair trade agreements for the USA with other countries.

If anyone else had said something that stupid, supporters would be outraged...but not the cult members.

IMO, no. Could others use the same tool to a less chaotic affect? Definitely!

What so many maggies tend to ignore (intentionally?) is that donny put together the trade deals between the old NAFTA partners.
