Has the market hit the bottom

What a rough two days it has been since the DAY OF LIBERATION. I have been liberated of half my portfolio. Having to think twice if i have to spend $$$ on the hobby. Hope some of the providers provide respite care in such market.

A BOGO offer might be good or a disount

To UC's point: The depression started to recover after 4 years. It took almost 10 years to get close to pre-depression in the US. Then WW2 occured.

I hope the bucket is fixed. I have no stomach for watching another generation decimated by war.

dog,
your 4 year type of cycle is called: Kitchin Cycle
Named after Joseph Kitchen whose book in the 1920's presented an economic theory that has been substantiated several times, and is roughly a 40 month cycle.

I'm a firm believer in Juglar cycle which runs 8 to 10 years.
From French economist Clement Juglar in 1862.
All of my multi year projections are 7 to 10 and over 90% have stayed within parameters.

There's others of different time frames.
What I'm getting to is that some of the "shorter" cycles can be, and frequently are, part of longer cycles. Not variations, but actually part of a longer cycle.
As an example, ECG and I had a four year plan, which we started late spring 21. Just last month (just under 4 yrs) we took over 90% of our cattle to market. Just before the Chinese stopped buying. These cycles must consider outside influences (politics) that do come around on a somewhat regular basis.

OK disclaimer, heavy training in eco, including CBOT.

As for war, we are in an economic war with the other two big dogs. and have been for a few years.

Ok, back to rusty bucket. Fix it, or walk away after cashing out.
It’s still above where it was when Trump left office the first time. The gains from the Biden years have not been completely erased yet. So yes, there is still some drop to come. Be in it for the long haul and you’ll be fine.
It's going to take a while to switch from a government spending economy to a private sector spending economy.

Over the past few days, my portfolio decreased by about 3%, which will be recovered when the market turns back north (although today’s activity has started out crazy, too). Certainly, the volatility of anyone’s portfolio will be affected by your level of exposure. As an old retired guy now, I’ve gotten away from the “trying to pick winners and hit it big” investments to a steadier “income with capital preservation” plan.

I wish everyone well, but everything will be fine, folks.
Its weird my 401 actually grew and have added to it in a couple weeks

Wiz,
Come on, we know you wave your wand.
BD,
Was 4 inches?

We're sitting tight. Our investment stuff down a couple percent but it's all mutual funds & etfs. We just let the machines handle that. The Kansas stuff was cashed out and is just sitting until we decide what to do with it. There's decent bass fishing up by Maryville
