Questions for the Albuquerque crowd

Hey there!

So-- I've got Albuquerque on my radar for a tour later this year-- and I have questions.

Recommendations on parts of town to avoid? I generally stay away from lower end motels, so no worries when it comes to that-- I just don't want to end up in an inconvenient part of town for the general masses.

Any recommendations on "must try" places to eat or visit? I love having a list of ideas in the event I have down time.
Hi Tallia, I would recommend the uptown area for good hotel options. There's also decent options around the Montgomery and I25 area and the San Antonio and I25 area. Stay away from Coors and I40.

I am a simple man when it comes to food, but I recommend Sadie's and Wecks for breakfast. Definitely recommend the Tram if you've got the time.
I second the suggestion for Sadie's and riding the tram. There's a really delicious restaurant at the top of the mountain. I'd also add Frontier restaurant for their sweet rolls. and El Patio Rio for the general vibe of the place.
Vernon's for a wonderful steak, Cocina Azul for great chile, more simple choices Dog house and Laguna burger or Grass burger. Crazy fish or Sushi Xuan for sushi. Hope you have a good experience here!!!!
Rio Rancho safer.

Ok-- one more question.

I am trying to decide between two hotels. Equivalent in style, etc.... one on the north side and the other by the airport. Is there a discernible difference between the two areas to where its worth the extra money to stay at one over the other?
I'd say you'd get more traffic by the airport but you'd be safer more north. I wouldn't say the airport area is "bad" but it could be better. The grace for that area is the base/airport and food places.

There are plenty of gals that have stayed at the airport area and was perfectly fine.
I feel more towards North end of town is better. Green tree is great for the rate and a nice breakfast

I like the Airport area,
the part near Sunport Blvd & University
North side is much better, way better part of town.
I believe you will have more business and a safer environment if you stay in the North side of town.
