I have long thought that the big-deal economists should factor in the business activity at pawn shops and brothels as real time financial indicators.

Pussy is a luxury and not a necessity. When people are worried about their money, they cut out luxuries and they find alternatives. In this particular case, it's called their hand which is free and also strengthens the forearm.

Seems like there’s been a dramatic shift to that right handed “necessity” in this very forum Lucas.

And pawn shop intake and sales ( the items, not the cash flow) can reflect the work available in the building trades.
