Customs agent

On my way back from Juarez I ran into a Customs agent who was a real jerk! If an American lives in a border town and is not going deep into the interior of Mexico a Texas real Id is sufficient for crossing back and forth into Juarez and El Paso. I also take my Certified Birth Certificate with me as a back up. The agent read me the riot act about needing a US Passport. I respectfully has to speak with his supervisor. When the supervisor came over I explained to him that I called the customs and border protection agency and they told me that all I needed was a Texas real ID or certified birth certificate with a traditional Texas ID to get back and forth between El Paso and Juarez. A passport is only needed if I'm going further than x number of miles into Mexico. Needless to say the supervisor let me walk right through, not sure what he told the jerk that was giving me a hard time. These customs agents take their job way too serious. They should at least know the law!

I have Global Entry so I don't have a problem with documentation and can skip the line but I've run into some jerks at the San Ysidro border as well. They ask stupid questions of me when they know why I went to Mexico and what I did there.
Just got my approval notice on Wednesday. Waiting for my card now!
When asked by customs agents, "what were you doing in Juarez/ anything to declare?"

Appropriate responses:

"Visiting with the local sweethearts and single mamacitas."

Or

"Dental work at Apple Dentistry"

Or

"Saving ladies the Visa card fees."

Or

"Getting Fucked and Fed."

Or

"Paying tariffs upfront."

Or

"Contributing to Mexicos Gross Domestic Product."

Any of these work, they have worked for me.

You are most definitely welcomed.
