Pronunciation guide

Ok, this is a dumb question, but how do you guys say "ECCIE"? Is it Ecky, or Essie - you could make a case for either. Or could it be a strange pronunciation like EE-KI-EE and you hold the "K" sound a little longer than normal, since there are two C's . Or is it way off base - sort of like Chumley being spelled Chomondley - and you pronounce it "Smith" in homage to all the guys who lied about their names on hotel registers.
There is a thread pinned somewhere that covers that.

The officially sanctioned pronunciation is "Eck ee", Like Heck followed by a long E.

And sometimes people forget that it stands for "Escort Client Community Information Exchange".

I usually just think of it as "Ee See".

What was the person who came up with this acronym thinking when he or she devised it?

Would NATO have ever been as important if its acronym was ANNTAO, or NEATOE, or something just as incongruous?
