Should Trump use a plane "gifted" by a foreign country as AF1? Consider possibilities for sabotage, spying, etc.. Not to mention the PR optics for USA. Maybe a summer White House in Doha is in the works. Praise Allah.

Boeing has a contract on new ones... but is over budget and years behind schedule.... Boeing isn't what it once was.

These are interim aircraft. The work to bring them up to spec will be done by the AF, not Boeing.... so it will actually be in the air by the end of the year.

I'd be willing to bet that the Boeing contract dies and that any planes obtained from Qatar would soldier on as the AF1 aircraft....

What is the Air Force's manufacturing capability for the retrofit? What does the AF know about how the Qatar was constructed and how to complete the project by years end? Wouldn't it be ironic if the AF contracted Boeing? What is the cost to retrofit a "free" plane when the existing fleet gets him to his weekend golfing and back?
