Bacon

The war on breakfast continues. Now, awhile back I mentioned this might become a problem and here we are.

Admin hasn't protected my OJ from the blight. Hasn't done much for eggs or that avian flu and got lucky so far this flu season.

But bacon? This one is a bridge too far.

Luckily for me, I smoke and slice my own. Have about 45 lbs left so that will last me a few weeks

Bacon prices have risen almost 20% since last year, and experts say these prices may not be coming down, thanks to a confluence of market factors.

Pork bacon prices in May were up 5.7% from April and 18% from May 2024, according to an analysis of grocery price data from NIQ.

Bacon prices tend to swing more wildly than other grocery staples tracked by NBC News. But Jim Eadie, the founder and publisher of the pork industry publication Swineweb.com, said it’s possible that bacon’s new, higher costs are here to stay.

Let's focus on the bacon, boys. Porkbelly is ok too.

But, JV... fuel prices went down and bacon has gone up. So it's not just that simple.

But that takes time and effort. Which has a cost component to it. Or, I could go to Fridays and buy a slab and cut it myself. That requires time, effort and gas. But truth be told, I prefer sausage patties for breakfast.

I smoke about sixty pounds at a time. It's fun so I don't charge myself..

Priorities.

Managing them must be problematic for some.
