Most important data from June:

🟢 830k new jobs for native-born
🔴 348K jobs lost for foreign-born

🟢 437k gain of new full-time jobs
🔴 367k loss of old part-time jobs

I'm sure someone will figure out why the above is bad, but this is what I voted for.

What matters appears to be what effect tariffs will have on the 2nd half of 2025.


Many forecasts for a significant decline in GDP.

Interesting that the OP chooses to cherry pick this data while ignoring the coming massive additions to public debt that he has expressed recent disapproval of....

Let's look at a few other "indicators"...

National debt up 4-fold in the last 10 years.

At least $3 Trillion more to be added from the "Bill"...with an estimated increase in debt service costs of half a billion dollars.

Widespread concern over volatility in the Yield on the 10-Year Treasury Note (good fucking luck driving down consumer interest rates if that increases!).

Decline of 10 percent in the value of the dollar in the past 6 months, compared to most major trading partners.

I could go on. No point. No one knows a fucking thing.

Other than....what could go wrong?

These two graphs from the FRED might be more useful
Native born employment numbers by month and year.

Foreign born employment numbers by month and year.

Take a look at the 10 year graphs for both native born and foreign born.

Native born employment is fairly static.

Foreign born employment however has been on a steady upward climb as foreign born workers have joined the economy.

This indicates to me that we have had employment needs as a whole that native born workers have been unable to meet. Presumably because of demographic changes amongst native born workers. Too many people retiring and leaving the workforce.

You quite obviously already did the analysis. Why are you so reluctant to share more of it here? Other than the above, I mean.

Oh. Wait. Could it be because the job growth numbers are so dominated by a select few areas that they don't look...quite so reassuring?

There's a shit-ton of analysis of the BLS report available, from multiple sources. It takes almost nothing to find it:

- The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported non-farm job growth of 147,000 for June 2025

- The majority of those jobs were in State and Local government jobs, with 73,000

- 40,000 in eductation

- Health care 39,000

- Manufacturing DECLINED by 7,000

Sooooo... if you're in local government, healthcare, or education...GOOD FOR YOU!

For everyone else, maybe not so much. Although the loss of jobs for foreign-born workers is probably good as it means that there are lots of great roofing and agricultural jobs available! Don't ferget yer sunscreen!
