Canada joining the UK and France to try to fix Trump's Gaza mess

Canada has joined France and Britain in announcing plans to recognize a Palestinian state in September as international pressure builds on Israel over the ongoing starvation crisis and war in Gaza.

The move leaves the United States increasingly isolated from some of its closest allies on the issue of Israel and how it has conducted its military campaign.

US President Donald Trump blasted Canada’s decision, threatening to derail ongoing trade talks with Ottawa.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney made the announcement on Wednesday and said that Canada has “long been committed to a two-state solution” that would see an independent Palestinian state “living side by side with the State of Israel in peace and security.”

The move follows similar announcements by France, which has said it will recognize a Palestinian state in September, and the UK, which has said that it will too if Israel does not meet conditions that include agreeing to a ceasefire in Gaza.
They're taking a play out of the Trump 1.0 playback, which makes it all the more interesting.

Why hasn't Donny done this or even threatened massive tariffs like he did with Brazil? Or the postion he's taking neither India over their support for Russia? Instead, he's now threatening Canada when they're simply doing what he's incapable of in the Gaza situation.

It's clear who wants the conflict to end. If Trump is to be taken seriously, he should apply the same pressure on Bibi
But of course trump won't be applying any pressure on Netanyahu. They're authoritarian besties who love watching poor people suffer and die.

of course not!

the Palestinians are their own worst enemy. they could have had a nation in 1948 the problem is that British mandate for unwinding the British Empire also called for a nation of Israel which the Arab nations and Palestinians would not tolerate.

so here we are nearly 80 years later and HAMAS is the instigator not Israel. none of this would be happening without Oct 7th.

this has zero weight. Israel doesn't care one fuck what the UK, Canada and the French say.

so what are they going to do? declare war on Israel? occupy GAZA themselves?

useless saber rattling. nothing burger.

By failing to stop it and reign in Bibi, he owns it.

You don't have to agree or like it.

it's amusing how people are so desperate to blame anything on Trump. even the shit he didn't cause

He owns these failures every day they continue
Of course no one mentions that there have been videos of HAMAS eating expensive meals while their own people starve…I am sure they aren’t stealing food from their own people!

Tangentially relevant. The food shortage is another symptom over the overall problem that Trump refuses to address.

There doesn't seem to be an appetite for peace. That's needed if Trump is going to get Gaza like he wanted.

After Oct 7 they’re lucky Israel didn’t carpet bomb the place, which is exactly what was called for and exactly the repercussions I’d expect the aggressor to face if it happened in the US.

all this talk of genocide by Israel is laughable. if Israel wanted to eliminate the Palestinians they would have done it decades ago. they not only allowed Gaza to exist they had hoped it would finally stabilize the region.
