Local hero to be laid to rest

We've lost a lot of fine men and women in the course of these two wars, but something about a local serviceman getting killed drives the point home so much stronger, to me at least, than somebody from another city or state. I guess it is easy to glaze over and just see the numbers as mere statistics which is sad, but true. Whenever I see a face and name associated with something so familiar, such as San Antonio, it affects me so much more because at that point it becomes something with which I can readily associate.

Lt. Andy Zermeno leaves behind a wife and two kids. He was killed in Afghanistan on September 25th, 2011. Thank you for your sacrifice sir, and thank you to all of those who have fought to protect and ensure our freedoms.

I hate to see anybody die, but especially someone so young with a wife and two young kids. Thoughts and prayers to his family carrying forward from here.

So many incredibly brave men and women have died for the benefit of others. Sadness over the loss and admiration for what he and thousands of others have done and are continuing to do.
Thank you Marcus...it's easy to forget the sacrifices our troops make for our country. Rest In Peace.
