national sales tax......?

It's called tariffs.


You, me, and millions of other American people and businesses is who pays it.


GDP will continue to shrink because of it.


Prices will continue to rise because of it.

Every President since at least Clinton has wanted to change our tax system over from an income based system to a consumption base system.

Tariffs are worse than a sales tax. They are paid on the front end by the retailer or wholesaler. At least with a sales tax it only gets collected when it’s sold to the end buyer. This is collected regardless of whether it gets sold or sits on a shelf or in a warehouse. That means it will drive up the cost of goods not subject to the tariff since the retailer or wholesaler has to account for the costs across all goods in order to maintain a profit.
