Trump's H-1B proclamation was a perfect example of poor messaging

Not sure who paid attention, but my man Donnyboy made some H-1B tweaks on Friday.

The language of the order was murky. Lutnick, who was with him in the room, said multiple times it would be an annual fee. When people reported that and took it at face value... it was called fake news despite coming coming from the administration. And then the admin started stepping all over the messaging Sat morning until they provided clarification Sat night before Sun implementation.

Ultimately, after companies panicked and sought quick clarification due to the quick implementation of the order, we the people were given further guidance which didn't sound like what was discussed on Friday. This is after sowing panic among H-1B's who were traveling abroad for legitimate purposes like vacation or business.

Watching this rollout was like watching the Keystone Cops in action.

And now, next year, the H-1B will cost $100k before you even get into the cost of salary and benefits.

If we go back to the interestingly botched Hyundai sting and Trump's backtrack and failed attempt to get those workers to stay you will see that there's now another reason for foreign-owned companies to reconsider U.S. investments because it will cost an extra $100k per head to secure temporary work authorization to help restore the bench of tech skills domestically.

Certainly will be interesting to see how this administration shoots itself in the foot with half-assed messaging and bad policy next.

I'm fairly sure- that if it doesn't have dollars attached to it, Trump isn't interested in it. Certainly not for doing the right thing, for the sake of doing it. He's gotta see a business case, and literally a mechanism to put his hand into the process, (in order to get a few dollars in the glass booth) while the patrons who play the game are forced to put out more and more, and get less and less.

Can anyone think of something Trump did to just help the country vs. himself. I know he ran on border issues and we can agree on that is a better thing- but on deportations, or tariffs or anything else, he's only hurt innocent people from kids, farmers and the local manufacturers, and retailers. He's a god damned disgrace.
