He first made international news over 20 years ago when his SWAT team shot a cop killer (also killed was the cop's police K9) like, a couple hundred times.
"Sheriff, why did your Officers shoot the suspect so many times?"

Funniest part: Polk County Coroner put "natural causes" as the cause of death on the suspect's death certificate. When the press asked how being shot a bazillion times could be "natural causes", the Coroner replied, "When you get shot that many times, naturally you gonna die."
