Not only NYC did they fail History and Poltical Science class:
I have been seeing countless Instagram, X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram videos for the past 2 weeks by folks calling him to becomne the next President Of The United States.
Many are calling him a young Obama (who was ineligible to be President).
Mamdani cannot run for the office of President Of The United States.
Article II, Section 1 of the U.S. Constitution leaves no room for interpretation:
“No person except a natural-born Citizen… shall be eligible to the Office of President.”
Mamdani was born in Kampala, Uganda in 1991 to Indian-Ugandan parents and became a naturalised U.S. citizen in 2018.
That timeline alone ends any dream of a Mamdani presidential run.
He is not a “natural-born” American.
A "natural born" American is a person who is a U.S. citizen from birth, primarily those born in the United States (birthright citizenship) and, under specific conditions, those born abroad to U.S. citizen parents. This status is established through the Fourteenth Amendment, which guarantees citizenship to almost all individuals born within U.S. jurisdiction, regardless of their parents' immigration status, with rare exceptions like children of foreign diplomats.
How to become a natural born American
Born in the U.S.:
You are a natural born citizen if you were born in the United States or in certain U.S. territories and are subject to its jurisdiction.
Born outside the U.S. to U.S. citizen parent(s):
You can be a natural born citizen if you are born abroad and meet the statutory requirements, which often involve the U.S. citizen parent's physical presence in the United States or its possessions before your birth.
