Noticed the price of beef dropped this week

It does take longer to raise beef than it does a chicken. We may finally get the supply chain together again. What will they complain about now?

Saw some video tonight of the Concourse Room at the White House. A few years ago it looked like an aged entry hall for a mid level hotel. Like the Rose Garden and the Ball room, Trump rebuilt it with custom white marble. Looks like someplace that you will bring someone into the West Wing.

Ground beef last week 6.99/lb
Ground beef this week 5.99/lb
A 16% drop.
AI analyzing your "MAGA sources says the data doesn't hold".

he average price of ground beef for the week of November 3, 2025, was approximately $6.32 per pound.

No change from prior week...up over 11% from last year. Call it Bidenomics vs Trumpfucksitup...

Late fall every year cattlemen thin out their herds as part of determining how much winter feed to buy.
This is an expected annual short term minor blip in cattle prices, if it's noticed at all.

There another explanation for the discrepancy in the reports. The OP could be wrong again.

As my 2nd job is handling critters, I'd like to thank numourous board members that post on this board about the economics of farmimg/ranching for the entertainment they continuously provide.
The other thing is that hamburger is often put on sale by grocery stores as a loss leader item to get people in the store and buy everything else to go with it.

I've basically seen most things stay flat on prices. A few up and a few things down. The biggest inflation hit was last year as most of the Insurance Premiums caught up with the Democrats cause 9% inflation rate.

Now you're going to dismiss an eye witness. The prices are what the prices are. You can argue the cause if you like.
I've been feeding Brand S hotdogs to cats, possums, and raccoons for years now. About six months ago they dropped from $1.18 to $1.00 a package. Isn't that about a 16% drop? Of course the idiots can argue early frost and hotdog tree crops.
By the way, it was not advertised as a sale. Ground chuck followed the same pattern.

If that's what you saw then good for you. Please put some of them dollar hot dogs aside for me, bro.

600-900 pounds select cut: $386/hundred weight
Live cattle: $2.40 per pound

Which market is that? Or region

The cattle price was the front month futures contract price for Live Cattle Futures. This is traded on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. The contract size is 40,000 pounds, which is probably more than most board members could eat before it goes bad. But it should be a good reflection of the price per pound of the cattle at the stockyards and slaughter houses where the cattle are bought and sold. See

https://www.cmegroup.com/markets/agr...le.quotes.html

There are multiple delivery points in the Midwest for the live cattle futures contract.

You could find out more from the USDA and CME web sites.
