phone number issues?????

I use the same phone number for work and personal, is there anyway that I can keep my eccie posts and reviews from coming up when my number is googled?
You may have to start using two phones...a personal phone and hobby phone to keep both lives separate...
Dont list it on any posts, ads, or reviews..thats associated with "lola"
May need to change your number if its already out there

I use google voice so I dont have to carry two phones, as an alternative

To stop it ,you may have to change your number and start over and add one of the virtual number systems like inumber. You could use your legit number for work and whatever, and use your virtual number for your hobby activities. inumber is about $7.00 a month for 120 min but you can upgrade if you have to. There are other services that do the same thing.

Still thinking about your problem....Evidently the server this site is hosted on allows
bots to index it. It used to be that a snippet of code could prevent that. I don't know if that is still the case. A way to prevent your phone number and even a email address to be picked up by a bot is to take the numbers and make them into a jpeg or png or gif , etc then you insert the photo into your ad instead of the actual numbers. Or you could take the photo of the numbers and make them part of your avitar and just refer folks who want your number to the avitar. This isn't fool proof as long as bots are allowed in. The bots will still pick up the photo and if someone wanted to find where the photo originated from they could. But this method makes it hard to do.

If the reviewer would be willing to take the time to use the message icon tht allows you to insert an image and if she would give you the URL of the photo(s)
Here's a rough example of what I'm talking about

PS Lola, This is just a rough example but if you want to you can save it by right clicking on it and then "save picture as" and download it to your machine

PPS. Oh never mind I guess. OK, thanks for the info Mokoa.
You know there are several Providers on the board that DO NOT post their phone numbers on the site and have their phone numbers Private. Only Hobbyist's that have been verified get access to them and the number is not posted by anyone since it is Private.

Lola you may want to follow that type of advertising, Sonya, Addison Rylee and Heatherone for instance do that type advertising. They are contacted via PM or email and once the Hobbyist is verified you give them your Private number. Although, you will probably have to change your current number for this to work. When a hobbyist sees you and posts a review on you, the reviewers won't post your Private number...or shouldn't post your Private number since it is Private for your security.

Thanks MIB, I was pretty sure the phone number and email addy were text and could be searched via the search engine, but just wanted to make sure.
seriously - some folks need to go to remedial training (I didn't say stupid study) on how search engines work and they are all the SAME - just different levels of activity they are programmed to find.

Basically once you hit "submit" or "enter" or any variation thereof ==> you have now created bot bait. Given enough data - engines can wend their way into areas we praise as being "private" and just for us kids at the neat kids' table.

Lola Lei - please stop posting your number on ads and ask gentlemen who see you to refrain from posting it. In the interim - go to the main search pages (Google, Bing, etc.) and look for the area similar to this:

http://privacy.microsoft.com/en-us/default.mspx

Contact them as directed FROM YOUR PERSONAL account and let them know you feel someone is using your personal telephone without your permission and ask them to please stop "searching your number" on routine sweeps. They will look at the numbers which is fine. Once you tell them that as of a specific date - you would like it stopped---they will turn-off that search feture and AS LONG AS IT DOESN'T SHOW AGAIN after that date on sites such as eccie and others ---they will go away.

Search engines and their train fill-up quickly.

And obviously -- once you secure a hobby phone -- everything gets better.

....Nena's advice is outstanding and that's what I use..

Dennisrn, I'm curious. Do you know if little codes similar to this ,

User-agent: *
Diallow: /

placed in the root

still work on blocking bots?

It would seem to me that the owners of this site would not want
search engines prowling around and if it could be prevented
so easilly why not do it? Not complaining, just curious.
Check your PM kind Sir..

and google Ramos eccie:

http://www.google.com/#sclient=psy-a...w=1920&bih=946

or Bing it:

http://www.bing.com/search?q=ramos+e...1-11&form=QBLH

and I still think that two phones (or one WITH Google Voice) is a decent way to go......
