Bizzare Rick Perry Speech

TexTushHog's Avatar
Rick Perry is attracting all the wrong kind of attention on the campaign trail yet again. He recently gave a speech in N.H. that has Democratic campaign consultants suggesting that he was "drunk." More sympathetic Republican consultants suggest that he was tanked up on prescription pain killers.

I looked at the speech and he's not incoherent. But he is sort of loopy and rambling. And he's swaying a whole lot from side to side. Does anyone else think that this speech is outside the norm?
I watched it yesterday. I found it to be more of the same. The only difference is that the national press is not nearly as forgiving as the treatment he receives in Texas. The Texas media has been giving Goodhair a free ride for quite a few years! I never understood why! He should have stayed in Texas where it has become common practice for this Governor to baffle the natives with his BS!
Who knows.. but it was funny to watch. Priceless when you see someone like that cuddling a maple syrup bottle. Anyone can speculate, and yes his behavior was bizarre. For the most part he has always come off as grandiose, arrogant, and a "over the top pretend cowboy". I agree bigtex, never understood how he maintained his position and managed to stay in office here for so long in his present capacity. I certainly did not vote for him.

I've seen him close up before, although not in small meetings, and he's not that fuckin' looney. Of course, when I've seen him, he's been talking about policy, where I understand he's pretty uncomfortable. Here, this is rehearsed bullshit and water political stuff. But damned, we've got County Commissioners in my small county that can give a better speech than that.

It's too bad we judge people's ability to lead based on how they perform on TV. That being said, I think Gov. Perry is "all hat and no cattle."

We judge people's intellect on how well they communicate. And there is some significant justification for that. If you cannot think clearly, you cannot communicate clearly, at least when speaking (or writing) about a topic of any substance. (And I might exclude memorized presentations.) I don't think that this is a case where a person just doesn't come across well on the medium of TV (as Richard Nixon was often said to do). This is a case of a guy who is just not that bright winging his way through a bunch of memorized, disjointed talking points.

I will grant, on the other hand, that there are a few folks who are bright, especially in small areas of expertise, but simply cannot communicate very well. When this condition is extreme, we call them idiot savants. But the ability to communicate well is a very good indicator of a person's intelligence.

He might have been coked up, drunk, or on some prescription meds! The guy is a complete idiot and I can't believe that the corporate whore media is selling this guy to America!
The one thing America does NOT need at this time is another Texas Governor as our President!

But hey I wouldn't be surprised
Well they (Rick Perry's Campaign people) said he just wanted or was trying to be looose with his speech. I do think he had to have been either drinking alcohol (even though he said he only had water there) he could have been drinking right before getting there to the event, or he is still on prescription pain killers. One gentleman (journalist)who was interviewed by the news said he has followed Rick Perry for years and he acts like that normally in small crowds or when he is with people he knows, but has a speech or two in the past that was similar.

By the way anyone see this on the news? http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/45102930.../#.TrFZTrIrpwQ

I saw the video, and his interview with news media. The guy is the stereotypical "good ole" boy from Texas. Sadly far too many like him still running around spreading hate IMO.

I'm not defending Perry, god knows I don't want him to be President, I'm just making a general comment. I have no idea what the Bilderbergers saw in him.
