Semper Fidelis: Today's the 236th birthday of the Marine Corps.
On November 10, 1775, Captain Samuel Nicolas formed the first two battalions of Continental Marines in Philadelphia as naval infantry divisions. The United States Marine Corp (USMC) today is the smallest part of our armed forces, accounting for only 6% of the military budget, but it is the most powerful in reputation, response, and undying loyalty. "Semper Fidelis" is Latin for "Always Faithful," and "Once a Marine, always a Marine" bonds these warriors like steel links throughout their lives.
I will personally lift a glass of Jameson high today to the brave and proud soldiers, past, present, and future, and be grateful for what they have and will endure on behalf of America.
