They could pay more without raising taxes. No one is saying they can't. This is just political gamesmanship, nothing more. Don't get too excited, WE, not good for your blood pressure. Originally Posted by CuteOldGuy

If they are the only ones it won't help and they realize that. Originally Posted by waverunner234

For example, millions of Americans (thank you LRR) have donated to the government by either currently serving and/or having previously served in the US military!

Sounds like a great plan to me.
A group of 24 mutli millionaires went to capitol Hill urging congress to raise their taxes and to end Bush tax cuts- at last we have some sensible millionaires who believe in paying their fair share: http://money.cnn.com/2011/11/16/news...ires/index.htm Originally Posted by wellendowed1911Billionaires claim they want to pay higher taxes so that people will tell them how nice they are. Are you advocating that we go back to the Trickle Down economics? If so then tell me where were all those "great" jobs during the Bush years? What was the benefit of the Bush Tax cuts if it didn't create jobs nor raise revenue?
Its easy for Warren Buffett to advocate higher taxes for the rich. He's worth approximately thirty to forty billion dollars. If his taxes are raised, his quality of life won't be effected. He'll be forced to live on a few billion less.
The problem with Obama's proposed tax increases is that it will slow economic growth and ultimately reduce tax revenue. Reagan dramatically reduced the top marginal rate on federal income taxes and tax revenue doubled during his administration.
If we're ever going to balance the budget, we've got to reduce federal spending and stimulate economic growth. Originally Posted by joe bloe
