Only Ron Paul came out against the misnamed Patriot Act. I didn't hear how Huntsman feels.
God help us.

We have a dilemma. The country can't afford four more years of President Obama, but these clowns are as bad or worse. Make the Patriot Act stronger? Are you kidding me?I agree that Paul and Huntsman are the only two Republican candidates who seem to have a vision for the future of America. The remaining candidates vision seems to be: if Obama is for it, I am against it. I am convinced that neither Paul or Huntsman will win the nomination or even be on the Republican ticket.

(Huntsman and Paul are the best but they don't have a chance, Bachmann and Perry are the worst. The bullies with the bibles).
Yes, it is sad! Very sad! I will say without hesitation, if any of the remaining "clowns" should end up as the Republican nominee for POTUS, I will vote for a second Obama term. As for the current Prez, I am disappointed in his first term. However, I do not blame it all on him. He has faced a unique set of circumstances in the 3 years since he was elected.
3 years ago today, America was on the verge of a total economic meltdown. While many of the posters blame Obama for all of what ails America today, I am realistic enough to know and understand that it is not all the President's fault. However, I will readily admit, I sure wish we were further along than we are. Originally Posted by bigtex

What would the unemployment numbers have been had Obama not taken that action. I suspect our economy could have easily veered off course far enough to put us into a depression, as opposed to the deep recession.
This is not a Republican or Democratic crisis; it is an American crisis. And it really doesn't matter who's occupying the White House, we will all need to make sacrifices and become less greedy in order for this great nation to survive. I have already downsized and simplified my life considerably, and not forcibly. How many of you have considered doing the same? Originally Posted by trynagetlaidVery well said!

This led to the housing boom, homes appreciated, and people borrowed against that appreciated value (home-equity loans) to finance other excesses and frivolities. In short, we were all living way beyond our means, not saving any money, and just plain becoming fat and lazy. The bubble burst.
Bush II's two ill-advised wars and tax cuts for the rich didn't help any, but we were all so caught up in the housing boom, and our feelings were so hurt by 9/11, that very few strongly objected.
