Will Backpage Adult Listings Survive?

LE in Detroit are trying to link a series of murders to BP ads that the women had been running in the escort section. Authorities are now trying to use these crimes to pressure BP to eliminate their adult services ads, much the same way pressure was brought onto Craigslist to discontinue their similar ads.

Of course, they are using the same arguments they have always used to discredit prostitution. Charges of human trafficking, child exploitation, coercion into the trade are being trumpeted again.

So, is this the beginning of the end for BP's escort/body rubs ads? If so, would they missed by the men and women here? Personally, I enjoy reading them and I do check them out regularly. Despite a certain stigma, many reputable ladies advertise there. I would hate to see it go.

Thoughts?
bp has nothing but adult ads really, do i doubt they'll drop them
BP has the support of their parent company and more money to hire the big gun attorney's to keep BP in business.

They make 100 times more than what Craigslist did in the adult section, they make MILLIONS a year just from that alone.
was discussed last night on anderson cooper...he tried top corner the BP attys to say they know that BP is ads for hookers...the lawyers didnt take the bait...AC kept it up ...but it doesnt appear its goin anywhere

Though I don't use them that often, I hope they do....at least til I decide to retire.

What happened makes me really sad. A lot of the ladies who advertise on BP don't even screen, or know to screen.

I like BP. It sucks CL's adult section went down in flames, but hopefully BP will stick around. But if it doesn't, there will be another out there to take it's place.
I agree Tori,

The scariest thing about bp is that a majority of the girls do not screen therefore crimes such as murder, theft, assault and rape do tend to show up more with the ladies who advertise there than on a site such as eros.

However, bp is a great venue for gents who are looking for last minute appointments and there are a great many wonderful ladies who do take the necessary precautions and utilize bp for their business.
I have a feeling that Backpage will not go down without a fight unlike CL their parent company the Village Voice is already very involved in cracking down and research child trafficking and prostitution.

And if they shut down Backpage, they mght as well shut down MATCH.COM, EHARMONY, that fish in the sea site and the millions of casual hookup sites that pop up everywhere since they facilitate complete strangers arranging to meet everyday. Oh wait- they don't pay for it so it totally safe.
