A question for the teckies about the new iPad

I can't seem to find an answer for this.

Does anyone know if you can download movies on the new iPad for later viewing, like on an airplane? I know you can stream movies, but that requires an internet connection. Thanks in advance!! H

You can download movies from Itunes and view them later or you can add MPEG-4 movies if you know someone that knows how. Streaming movies is iffy. You can stream from Youtube but the iPad doesn't support Flash, which is used by most sites to stream video. You would need Wi-Fi to stream movies. The wireless would be from your own wireless router with your internet connection or from a reliable wireless hot-spot that can support speeds needed to stream movies.

In my opinion, the iPad just a bigger iPod touch. Not that I have anything against the Touch, I own one. A netbook, small laptop, or a small Macbook would easily handle what you are trying to accomplish.
Thanks for your help. I also have an iTouch and love it, and use a small DVD player when I travel to watch movies during the flight, but the iPad is soooo cute and thin, and seems to have a great picture quality. Thanks again! H

Yes you can do it just as easily as you can on an iPhone or iPod touch. I just bought an iPad so I don't know the exact details of how it works, but once it arrives and I use it enough to find out how to do it I'll let you know.
We just got one and it's nice. We haven't tried the iTunes videos yet; but streaming video from netflix or the ABC was very clean. Honestly just as clear as my laptop. Like any wifi device, it'll probably depend on your connection.
