As a 30 year retired USAF Senior NonCommissioned Officer - I feel comfortable posting this....

The Air Force needs to reverse its decision to remove a Latin reference to "God" from a logo after an atheist group complained.

Rep. Randy Forbes, (R-VA), said the Air Force removed the logo several weeks ago from the Rapid Capabilities Office. The patch included a line written in Latin that read, "Doing God's Work with Other People's Money."

But after the Military Association of Atheists and Freethinkers complained, the line was rewritten in Latin to read, "Doing Miracles with Other People's Money."

A bi-partisan group of 35 lawmakers sent a letter to Air Force Secretary Michael Donley and Air Force Chief of Staff Norton Schwartz expressing concern over the decision to remove the reference to God.

Forbes said the removal of "God" is a "bridge too far in terms of the rights of men and women who serve and have served in our military and their ability to express their faith."

Unfortunately, under Obama's appointed Secretary Donley, the Air Force is quickly becoming the military's leader in trampling religious symbols, emblems and freedoms from the armed services. Last year, the Air Force banned a class on the Christian-based "Just War Theory" because the class used verses from the Bible.

God Bless You Mr. Forbes..

I'm not an atheist, however I don't feel the work the military does is God's work. It is necessary work, but not God's work.
I bet if we put those athiests in a hot zone in Afghanistan, they will believe in God pretty damn quickly.

I'm believe in God but really don't push it on anyone. I believe everyone has a right to choose. I fucking hate when athiests push their views (or lack of) onto others.

I am agnostic but am tired of all of the silly complaints about references to god. This did not hurt or infringe on anyones rights. Leave it alone and focus on things that matter.

Our country is overly sensitive.

A reference to God on our money, in the Pledge Of Allegience, or even on our Declaration Of Independence is not offensive in my opinion. These all started many many years ago.

Offensive to me is when someone shoves THEIR beliefs on me or my children. Preaching religion in a public school is not acceptable to me, nor should my elected officials quote the bible as a reason for support of any legislation. I didn't elect a religion to office, I elected a person, and honestly I don't care what religion, if any, they believe in, but don't use YOUR religous beliefs to force a change on everyone. A few examples of legislative abuses based on religious beliefs are abortion, birth control, and the morning after pill.

Should we go to Independence Hall and white out the word "GOD" on the the Declaration Of Independence to please everyone?

Perfect, another example of the "extortion" God requires for us to love him. The "all loving" God says to "love me or I will eternally torture you!

I am not an atheist but not sure if I am superstitious enough to buy into the much of the biblical gibberish. Trying to make sense of it all, but pretty sketchy.

Just can't get past talking snakes but am reading interesting non-fictional book related to Bible by Bishop Spong called Reclaiming the Bible for non-religious world, may help me more the trying to decypher 90% fantasy from 10% helpful philosophy Bible contains.

If that were true, wouldn't the enemy believe too? I am sure they know of him as well.

This message is hidden because 1NEMESIS is on your ignore list.
The whining about God on this or that or the general sue happy nature of this country is the result of people being to far removed from their survival instincts. Having no threat to concern yourself with on a day to day basis will allow you to think about really unimportant bullshit and this sort of thing is the result. We have been fat and happy too long and this is the product.
the reason I stated "I bet if we put those athiests in a hot zone in Afghanistan, they will believe in God pretty damn quickly." is because I have seen many tough guys fall apart and all of the sudden cry out "God help me" when they are faced with death or a terrible situation such as going to prison.

I am not pushing my religious views on anyone. Just making a comment.

Wether God knows I am visiting this site or not doesn't have any bearing on what I said.

That's interesting...what makes you think that, 1NEMISIS? Is that what your religion/church tells you...that God doesn't appreciate sinners? Boy, talk about brainwashing! (lol)
