Conceal-Carry license

An old high school buddy was a Green Beret during Vietnam and recently got me interested in guns. In the past couple of months I bought a couple of firearms for home protection. I'm probably going to take a conceal-carry class soon.

Curious as to how many here have a license. Probably it would be better to take an anonymous poll. Is there anyway to do that here without an outside link? Would an outside link to a poll be permissible on this board?

Would be interested in hearing what folks carry and how they holster it but maybe that's too much info for this board.

It's called concealed for a reason.

not sure why anyone would want to get a concealed permit. there are so many limitations as to where you can carry it into (no banks, bars, clubs, etc.).

TX did pass a law a while back that does allow you to carry a handgun in your vehicle as long as it is concealed.

I agree with satexas guy. You can't have a concealed weapon at schools banks and many other public events. So whats the point of having one then when the govt crashes down on guns they will know exactly where to look. All the people that have CHG permits.
Another down side of having a permit is say you do use it and something goes wrong or is a little foul the prosecutor will use that against you, saying you were taught not to shoot like this and that. Basically in court lawyers have all the time to think about ways you should of acted or shot or not shot. When in real life your adrenaline was through the roof and you had a split second to make a decision. Hope I helped

You are walking down a deserted street with your wife and small children.
Suddenly a criminal with a knife comes around the corner, locks eyes with you, screams obscenities, raises the knife, and charges at your family
You are carrying a 1911 cal. 45 ACP, and you are an expert shot.
You have mere seconds before he reaches you and your family.
What do you do?

Liberal Answer:
• Well, that's not enough information to answer the question!
• What is a Kimber 1911 cal. 45 ACP?
• Does the man look poor or oppressed?
• Is he really a terrorist? Am I guilty of profiling?
• Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire him to attack?
• Could we run away?
• What does my wife think?
• What about the kids?
• Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand?
• What does the law say about this situation?
• Does the pistol have appropriate safety built into it?
• Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message does this send to society and to my children?
• Is it possible he'd be happy with just killing me?
• Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he be content just to wound me?
• If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get away while he was stabbing me?
• Should I call 9-1-1?
• Why is this street so deserted?
• We need to raise taxes, have paint & weed day.
• Can we make this a happier, healthier street that would discourage such behavior.
• I need to debate this with some friends for a few days and try to come to a consensus.
• This is all so confusing!
