Vanishing PM

I received a PM from a provider yesterday afternoon. I opened it and had time to open a few links that were included before the SO walked in. I closed it without responding. This morning it has vanished.
Can someone explain what happened?

It should not have disappeared due to what you describe.

A similar thing happened to me. I received an email notification that there was a PM sent to me from a provider. By the time I logged into my ECCIE account, it was no longer there. Kinda strange...

I bet it was the same person. I never got to see the PM and I immediately deleted the email and I can't remember who the lady was. I do know I have never had any previous contact with her.

Was your PM something about Valentine's Day?? That's about all I remember.
