P90X, Insanity, Slim in 6, Ect.

I am going to try one of these programs. I'm a little nervous to say the least but I want to tone up and slim down the mommy pouch and I would prefer that my ass didn't have it's own zipcode. Has anyone tried them? What was your results?
a friend of mine has tried P90X
essentially if you stick to it and have a reasonable healthy diet it works

I tried the Insanity workout for about two weeks and was doing really well with it. You do not need anything really except for workout shoes.

But my problem was at the time living upstairs from another neighbor, there are alot of jumping around moves and I was reprimanded lol. So I haven't been able to finish it enitrely. Now that I am at a house I will start it up again, as for P90x, my good friend used it and it seemed to work great for him.
Only difference is P90 is more about strengthening & building muscles and Insanity more so about conditioning/toning.(In my opinion from people that have used it & done both). P90 also requires much more equipment. But I haven't personally used it. Insanity works great and within 2 months of being about 10 pounds overweight, I am already in good enough condition to finish the tower of america run in about 20min.
If you do not have Insanity yet, let me know as I believe it is still on my personal PC and available for burning. I have no idea how much it costs to buy from their website. I do know though, that the same company makes both systems.

I've been doing the Insanity program since April 2010 and I've recently started doing the Insanity: The Asylum program along with it. The results have been excellent and I love the programs.

In order to do well with these programs, you must stick with them, know your limits (but still pushing yourself, you'll gradually improve), and eat a healthy diet (I'm somewhat guilty here as I have a bad sweet tooth).

Also it's necessary to know your fitness level going in. If you're out of shape in the beginning, you may need to move a little slower until you're conditioned. Case in point, the first day I did the Insanity program, I almost passed out..after a while I can do a lot of the exercises with little or no rest (although Asylum is a different story ).

Agree with all the above. I have done p90x, Insanity and currently trying asylum. I think p90x is a great way to start if it has been a while since you have exercised. I think insanity is too intense unless you are in a reasonable amount of shape. I completed one round but also got a wicked case of plantar fascitis half way through. P90X can be done with an exercise mat, good shoes and bands or a small set of weights and a pull up bar. there is even a p90x app that you can buy and have it on your smart phone and or ipad with all the moves and instructions. Also I recommend eating well with no soda or junk food which is not easy here in SA. I also like doing Bikram yoga which I recommend as well. Good Luck!
Insanity reminds me of being in Army Boot Camp. It sure as hell shaped me up though!

Bikram Yoga rooms always make me double take. It is soo dark and no one is moving so if you walk by a glass doored room, you do not realize people are in there until you see 40 sets of eyes staring at you! HAH gets me everytime.
On another note....
Does anyone know what will happen to Spectrum clubs now that Gold's Gym has purchased all SA locations?? I may switch to lifetime because of the wannabe tough guys at Gold's I see too often. Spectrum seemed nice with the generally older crowd. oh well.
just about any form of exercise if done routinely and by watching your diet will help. Walking every day is a good, low stress exercise that helps shed pounds if you are consistent with it.

most of these fad diets and exercise routines may work short term gain, but they require lots of initial commitment and in some cases, very physical exercises. But to truly get where you want and stay there, you need to be consistent and watch your diet.

It seems they are just going to become part of golds gym. Basically whatever spectrum you went to is now a golds and you have access to all golds gyms.

At least from the article it seems they still dont have it set up so that current golds gyms members have access to the spectrums, though it seems that is the plan.

I agree with the tough guy statement. I just ignore them. I'm kind of glad this happened since there is a spectrum that is closer to my place than the golds i usually go to.

P90X did wonders for me, heck I only did it for two months not the full three!! So I'm starting again since I put the holiday weight back on. I think if I just did the P90 yoga I would be in good shape.
I think all of the above is true...Know your limits and tailor the program for your fitness level until you are in shape to really pound it out. We had alot of people who tore their rotator cuffs when the P90X first came out...Know your limits!

I havd not tried one of these, but I had to swear off carbs (sugar, starchy foods, anf bread) and the weight dropped like a rock. 30lbs in 6 months. It has been about 14 months and the weight is still off since I limit carbs
