Star Spangled Banner….

Forget about the details of the tragedy and listen to the greatest rendition of The Star Spangled Banner ever filmed or recorded. If this doesn't make you proud to be an American and doesn't make your chest swell with pride, you need to come to grips with what it means to be an American.
What ever you may think of Whitney Houston, we lost a beautiful person that brought pride and joy to all Americans that day and she will never be forgotten…..

It was the best ever done... I heard it was pre recorded to make sure it was perfect... It doesn't matter if it was or not, it was great!!!
you know nemesis I know we clashed a little earlier, but thank you for posting this. I remember watching this live at an air base in the middle of the Saudi Arabian desert very early on a monday morning. Just when she started singing as if on cue, air raid sirens went off alerting us to inbound scud missles. Those of us that were off duty and able to watch the game had gathered in a GP MEDIUM (thats a big army tent) to watch the game. When the sirens went off none of us ran for the safety of the bunkers. Instead we just donned our protective gear and continued to listen to her sing. I remember not being able to see thru the lenses in my protective mask because they were fogged over from me crying. It was like Saddam had choerographed the whole thing for whitney. As she is sang "the bombs bursting in air" we could hear the patriots leaving their tubes with a tremendous boom it left us all in awe and high fiving one another because it was so cool how it played itself out. Thanks for the memory it made me smile
a truly great performance. wish the current singers could do the same justice.

Thanks for your service carguy.

1) Best Ever cover of our anthem = no. She dodged the high note and falsettoed it. Great cover of our anthem = hells yeah!

Whitney - so many stories there.
1) She was one of the best female singers, ever. period. VERY well trained. She devoted her life to it and it showed.
2) She had a MASSIVE impact on the music industry. Not only did she share her own brilliant performances with us, but she inspired an entire style of music.
3) She wasn't selfish and greedy about music. In fact she mentored and tutored several brilliant vocalists coming up in the generation that followed her. Obviously Monica, Christina Aguilera, and although not directly tutored: Mariah Carey. Without Whitney it is possible none of these other singers would have presented the gifts they have shared with us as well.
4) Having EVERYTHING does not make you Happy. Whitney had it all. And she spiralled down into a very dark path of destruction. Very sad.
Moral: Be happy no matter what you have or where you are.

She will live on as a Legend forever and will be missed.

I don't know what we can do to try to solve this drug/alcohol problem we have. We've lost so many of the most gifted and talented that have given us so much beauty and happiness but can't seem to give themselves the same…...
